First day of hol...no wind. But today's forecast said plenty windy albeit
maybe in the morning only so we were up at the crack of dawn and at Gowlane
by 8am. We were greeted by the glorious sight of row after row of clean
peeling boom-highers having their tops whipped off by a solid 30 knot
cross-off breeze. Mmmm...nice. So rigged 4.0 but first run out I was
ridiculously overpowered. I whacked on the downhaul and all was looking
good but annoyingly the wind soon dropped and became hideously gusty.
Eventually I changed up to 5.2 which worked well for a short while but the
wind continued to disappear to the extent that at one point I was stuck out
back in a massive lull, couldn't even waterstart, and was contemplating a
long swim in very cold water...
A frustrating session but the beautiful surroundings did their best to make
up for it. Sushine, rainbows, green hills, blue water...lovely.
